Leon Battista Alberti was a true "Renaissance Man": a painter, architect, draftsman, theorist, and thinker, he was one of the foremost Florentine humanists of the early 15th century. Alberti is best known for his ideas on perspective (which became immensely influential as artists began to depict three-dimensional space during the early Renaissance), but he was also a political satirist and a moralist.
