MDR uses drop-down lists to promote easier standardized cataloguing and searches.. The drop-down lists include a combination of modern and medieval geographical regions and political territories most commonly used by medievalists. Some locations are grouped under a larger regional name, e.g., searches for Scandinavia will turn up all items relevant to any of the modern countries listed under Scandinavia. Countries that cannot be easily categorized this way are listed separately under appropriate Continents. Additional locations (including specific counties, districts, and cities) can be found by using the Search Term field at the top of the Search Form.
