A prolific and influential preacher, Bernardino of Siena revolutionized the Franciscan Observance in Italy during the 15th century. He traveled and preached throughout northern and central Italy, and composed many Latin sermon collections which reflect his concern with the problems he perceived in Italian society including usury, women’s fashion, factionalism, and sodomy.
