Anna Comnena was the daughter of Byzantine emperor Alexios I Komnenos. She married Nicephorus Bryennius and was involved in a plot to put him on the throne. After failing to do so she went to a monastery with her mother where she wrote the Alexiad, a history of her father’s reign. TLM
