Cosmas was a sixth-century merchant from Alexandria known for his work Christian Topography. In this book Cosmas combines Christian theology with knowledge gained from his travels throughout the Mediterranean, Red Sea and possibly as far as India, to create a theory of the world’s geography and describe the places he visited.
