Peter Lombard was a scholastic theologian of the twelfth century. His Libri Quatri Sententiarum , a massive work that systematically addressed a comprehensive list of theological issues by collecting passages from Scripture, the Church Fathers, and Medieval Theologians, was the standard theological textbook at universities into the seventeenth century.
