Title: Sir
Alternate names/spellings:
Dates: 1350 - 1372 (Dates are approximate. These are the dates Mandeville, John flourished. )
John Mandeville was the presumed author of a book of his supposed travels during the Middle Ages in Anglo-Norman French. He describes himself as an English knight from St. Albans. His travels brought him to such places as Turkey, Egypt, India and China. The validity of these accounts is questioned because of its use of earlier source material; the identity of its author is also debated. He may have actually been Jean de Bourgogne. The manuscript states his date of death as 1372. TLM
