Matthew Paris was a Benedictine monk, chronicler and artist. He spent most of his life at St. Alban’s, where he became a monk in 1217, although he traveled to the court in London and even on a mission to Norway in 1248 to invite King Hakaan IV to join the crusade. His major work was the Chronica Majora, which tells of events in England from the creation until his death in 1259. TLM
