Angelo Poliziano was a well-known humanist scholar of Latin and Greek, and a tutor to the children of Lorenzo il Magnifico de Medici, the de facto ruler of Florence. Over the course of his short life, he produced many works of poetry in honor of his Medici patrons. For more information, see:
