Rudulf von Ems was a poet from Vorarlberg (in present-day Austria) and a knight in the service of the Counts of Montfort during the thirteenth century. His extant works include Der gute Gerhard, Barlaam und Josaphat, a courtly epic called Wilhelm von Orlens and two historical texts, Alexander and Weltchronik. Rudolf died in Italy while in the service of the Hohenstaufen ruler, King Conrad IV. TLM
