Biographical information for Simon is scarce. He is believed to have been, at one point, a canon of St. Victor, and may have also served as prior of Saint-Ayoul de Provins and later as abbot of Saint-Rémi de Reims. He is known as the author of several poetic epitaphs including ones for Abbot Suger, Thibaut II of Champagne, and Bernard of Clairvaux as well as three Latin poems describing the Trojan War.
