James Sprenger was a Swiss priest born near Basel. He was also Master of Theology at the University of Cologne and founded the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary in Strasbourg. Around 1475 he was appointed General Inquisitor for Germany. He is believed to be the co-author of Malleus Maleficarum, a famous treatise on witches. TLM
