John Trevisa was born at the parish of St Enoder in Cornwall. He received his education at Oxford, going on to become Vicar of Berkeley, chaplain to Lord Berkeley, and Canon of Westbury on Trym. He translated important works into English, such as Bartholomaeus Anglicus’ On the Properties of Things and Ranulf Hidgen’s Polychronicon. TLM
