William of Moerbeke was a thirteenth-century Flemish scholar who translated philosophical, scientific and mathematical texts from Greek into Latin. During his lifetime he was associated with Thomas Aquinas, the mathematician John Campanus, the naturalist physician Witelo and the astronomer Herni Bate of Mechlin. He participated in the Council of Lyon in 1274 and was appointed archbishop of Corinth 1278. TLM
