Little is known of this German poet’s life except from what he discloses in his works. Wolfram was born in Bavaria and wrote in an east Franconian dialect. Much of his life was spent wandering and possibly serving in several courts where he wrote his poetry. Wolfram wrote several lyric poems and three epics, one of which is considered the greatest Middle High German epic. This work is Parzival, written between 1210 and 1216 possibly based on Chrétien de Troyes’ Comte del Graal.
