Trani was an important canonist, decretalist and teacher at Bologna and Naples in the fist half of the thirteenth century. Eventually made a cardinal deacon by Innocent IV, Geoffrey is most famous for his Summa super titulis decretalium a summary of the rubric of the Decretals of Gregory IX.
